Arkansas Trip with Sam Radwine
June 7, 2018 - June 10, 2018
Sam Radwine is a native of the Springfield area. After serving as a cantor for many years in southern California, Sam has recently relocated to Bentonville, Arkansas, where he sings on the bimah at Congregation Etz Chaim. In the past, we’ve invited Sam to return to his hometown congregation, but this time we thought we’d go to him!
The trip will begin with a day and night in beautiful Eureka Springs, a secluded and peaceful town nestled in the heart of the Ozark Mountains of northwest Arkansas. The streets are lined by extraordinary Victorian homes hugging the cliffsides, and its entire central downtown area is on the National Register of Historic Places. It has block after block of one-of-a-kind shops, boutiques, fine art galleries, spas, museums, parks, and restaurants for you to explore.
We will then make our way to Bentonville, where we will attend a special Friday night Shabbat service led by Cantor Sam Radwine followed by a Shabbat dinner. As the home of Walmart Corporate Headquarters, Bentonville has transformed from a sleepy Arkansas town to a bustling center of commerce and entrepreneurship. The recently opened Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, designed by world renowned architect Moshe Safdie, houses a vast collection of masterworks spanning from the Colonial era to the modern day.
